Nitram, directed by Justin Kurzel, is set in Australia in the mid-1990s and tells the story of Nitram (Caleb Landry Jones), a boy who lives with his parents (Judy Davis and Anthony LaPaglia) in the suburbs. The young man spends all his time in isolation and solitude, worn out every day by a sense of frustration, because he feels unsuitable and unable to find his place in the world.
When volunteering as a gardener, he meets Helen (Essie Davis), a lonely heiress who lives on the fringes of society and whose only company is his pets. The two bond immediately and together lead a life separate from everything else. This balance found by Nitram fails when Helen dies.
The tragic event leads the boy to find himself once again completely alone and a strong anger grows in him, which will lead him to carry out one of the most atrocious massacres committed by a human being.
