CODA, the film directed by Sian Heder, tells the story of Ruby (Emilia Jones), a seventeen-year-old girl who, in the early hours of the morning, before entering school, works on the family boat to help her parents (Marlee Matlin and Troy Kotsur) and his brother (Daniel Durant) to continue their fishing business on the Massachusetts coast. Ruby is the only hearing person in her family.
Since the young girl joined the school choir, she has discovered that she has a strong attraction for singing. Her teacher Bernardo (Eugenio Derbez) believes there is something special about the young teenager and pushes her to consider a prestigious music school for her future.
Ruby will thus find herself at a crossroads: abandoning her beloved parents to follow her biggest dream or continue to help her family.
