The unique and unsurpassed Ivan, a film directed by Thea Sharrock, is set in 1973 and tells the story of a gorilla, Ivan, who lives in a cage, exhibited at the 8 Big Top Mall together with the elephantess Stella and the dog Bob , without any of them remembering how they got there. The trio of animals belongs to Mack (Bryan Cranston), owner of the mall.
When Stella, now ill, dies, Ivan decides to keep his promise to his friend: to take care of Ruby, the new one, a baby elephant, also helped by the young Julia (Ariana Greenblatt), daughter of the mall keeper. Stella's death brings back some memories in Ivan's memory, those of what his existence was like outside the high walls of the shopping center and, even more motivated, the gorilla decides to try to escape from prison with little Ruby. ...
