Resistance - The Voice of Silence, the film directed by Jonathan Jakubowicz, tells the true story of Marcel Marceau, the famous French mime who during World War II collaborated with the French Resistance to save the lives of more than 100 Jewish orphans persecuted by the Nazis .
Marcel Marceau (Jesse Eisenberg), is a young aspiring artist of Jewish origin, with a great passion for acting. Marcel grew up in a Europe largely occupied by the Germans of the Third Reich but does not intend to end up at the front. During the day he works with his father in the family butcher's shop, while in the evening he performs in small burlesque clubs in the city, defying the will of the parent.
The young mime one day meets and falls in love with Emma (Clémence Poésy), a charming and courageous girl, very politically active. To earn Emma's love, Marcel agrees to participate in an impossible mission against the Nazis, which will mark his life forever. In fact, his risky task will be to take 123 children orphaned by the Nazi regime and in particular by the cruel Obersturmführer of the SS Klaus Barbie (Matthias Schweighöfer) across the border into Switzerland.
Marcel together with his group will be able to save the lives of young orphans and thanks to his great passion and the power of art, he will be able to bring a bit of lightness and a breath of hope in such a dramatic situation. In fact, the boy will test his acting skills by teaching children how to survive the terrible reality of the Holocaust.
