Irresistible, directed by Jon Stewart, is the story of Gary Zimmer (Steve Carell), a political advisor to the Democratic Party who decides to help a retired former soldier (Chris Cooper) to run for mayor of a small conservative town. of Winsconsin and winning the election. But to oppose Gary comes a woman (Rose Byrne), charged by the Republicans to win the majority of the votes. For Zimmer the elections thus turn into a personal challenge and the two will fight in a rather hilarious way, ready to lose any kind of control in order to win.
