The Life Ahead, the film directed by Edoardo Ponti, stars Madame Rosa (Sophia Loren), a former prostitute and elderly Jewish woman who survived the holocaust.
Madame Rosa spends her days taking care of children in difficulty, welcoming them into her humble home of hers in Bari. This is how she meets Momò, a rebellious twelve-year-old boy of Senegalese origins, who has been orphaned by her. The two do not initially get along very well, they are distant in everything: different age, ethnicity and religion. But after a short time a strong bond will be born between the two. Together they will overcome loneliness and build a small family.
