Stardust, directed by Gabriel Range, is set in 1971, the year of the first performance in the United States by a young David Bowie (Johnny Flynn). The British artist, then 24, was leaving for America to promote his new record, The Man Who Sold the World, his third album. In England, Bowie left his wife Angie (Jena Malone) pregnant in the hopes of making himself known and broadening his audience.
On this trip in the company of the press office Rob Oberman (Marc Maron), the singer is disappointed to find that the American public does not pay him the desired attention. But Bowie doesn't let this indifference knock him down and decides it's time to reinvent himself, creating an alter ego. This is how Ziggy Stardust was born, the eclectic and eccentric man of the stars, which leads him to change his career and to mature artistically. A search for style, the one carried out by Bowie, who finds himself with the spotlight on his new identity, that of Ziggy, who will consecrate him from this moment on to an undisputed icon of music.
