A Nightmare Wakes, a film directed by Nora Unkel, tells the birth of the famous gothic best-seller "Frankestein" at the hands of its author, Mary Shelley (Alix Wilton Regan). The writer is experiencing her relationship with Percy Shelley (Giullian Yao Gioiello), during the writing of her novel, and it is thanks to the man, poet, that she meets leading personalities in literature, such as Lord Byron (Philippe Bowgen).
To help with her writing, Mary takes her opium, which leads her into a kind of trance, leading her to live a distressing dream. From this moment the woman begins to have hallucinations: it seems that the characters, the fruit of her pen, have come to life and begin to haunt her existence and the same relationship with Percy, who begins to notice in her the appearance of strange attitudes. Mary's restlessness grows stronger and stronger, to the point of pushing her to a choice: true love or her masterpiece.
