Cadaver is a Netflix original film written and directed by Jarand Herdal, set in a post-apocalyptic scenario at the dawn of a nuclear war that decimated the population and forced the few survivors to live in hardship. Famine is in fact a constant of this new world and Leonora (Gitte Witt) struggles every day with her husband Jacob (Thomas Gullestad) to guarantee a dignified life to her little daughter Alice (Tuva Olivia Remman), at the cost of suffering the hunger for long periods. One day, the hotel in their town attracts numerous spectators to the street to invite them to a theatrical performance, presenting it as the most exciting experience of their life. But what really attracts Leonora and the other people is the free offer of a hearty dinner. After convincing Jacob, the woman gives up all her savings to buy tickets and in the evening the family reaches the hotel. Welcoming them in the luxurious building is the owner and director of the show, Mathias (Thorbjørn Harr), who after having made his guests sit down and satiate, begins to present the opera that those present will attend. Everyone is given masks to wear and the "director" explains to them that they will be the only link with reality: the whole hotel is in fact the stage and anyone without a mask is an actor. Unfortunately, however, the protagonists will soon realize that nothing is as it appears within the walls of the building and a dark and macabre atmosphere begins to envelop Leonor and Jacob, whose doubts will become frighteningly real when at some point their little Alice disappears. ...
