Women at the first steps, a Netflix original film directed by Maïmouna Doucouré, starring 11-year-old Amy (Fathia Youssouf), a pre-adolescent girl who lives with her mother in a Parisian suburb. The young woman experiences a very contrasting family situation: she anxiously awaits the return of her father from Senegal, who is close to marrying a second wife, a situation which - together with the harsh impositions of Islamic religious doctrine that oppress Senegalese immigrant women - causes a lot of suffering to the child.
