A Journal for Jordan, a film directed by Denzel Washington, tells the story of Charles Monroe King (Michael B. Jordan), the first army sergeant serving in Iraq. The man frequently writes to his son who remained at home and whom he has never known, because he was born after his departure. In the letters Charles advises him and above all guides him on how to lead a dignified life, even if he has never seen his father.
The sergeant, however, was killed in 2006 in an attack in Baghdad just a month after the end of his mission. After learning of his death, his wife Dana Canedy (Chanté Adams) collects all the letters sent by King in a collection intended for his son, who has never met his father.
