The Woman in the Window, directed by Joe Wright, is based on AJ Finn's bestseller "The Woman in the Window". It tells the story of Anna Fox (Amy Adams), a young woman suffering from anxiety and agoraphobia, ailments that prevent her from going out of the house; this is why she lives as a recluse in her large apartment in New York, away from her husband and daughter.
Her days go by identical to each other with the company of old films, a glass of wine and her pills. When a new family, the Russells, moves in front of her house, Anna has a new pastime: spying on her new neighbors. They look like a model family, consisting of father Alistair (Gary Oldman), mother Jane (Julianne Moore) and teenage son Ethan (Fred Hechinger).
The two women soon become friends and Anna allows Jane to visit her, spend time together and confide in her. But one day as she watches the family from the window she discovers a terrible secret: she sees something she shouldn't have seen and that changes her life forever. What happened to her friend Jane to her?
