Finding 'Ohana, directed by Jude Weng, tells the story of Pili (Kea Peahu), a 12-year-old from Brooklyn who travels with her family to the Hawaiian island of Oahu to take care of her grandfather. Although initially she is not at ease in the new environment, so rich in nature and different from New York, Pili makes a striking discovery: rummaging in her grandfather's house, she finds a diary of a pirate. The booklet speaks of a treasure, dating back 200 years, which was hidden in the mountains of the island. Together with her new friend Casper (Owen Vaccaro), Pili sets out on the trail of the lost treasure. To help them in this adventure there will also be her brother Ioane (Alex Aiono) and a local girl, Hana (Lindsay Watson). The four will have to solve clues and face the wilderness of the island, but they will also learn about and respect the native culture. This is how Pili will reconnect with her Hawaiian origins and discover that the greatest treasure around her is the ohana.
