La Belva, directed by Ludovico Di Martino, is the story of Leonida Riva (Fabrizio Gifuni), a former lieutenant with a very solitary and grim temperament, who, due to his work and, in particular, his service in the war, often found himself forced to get away from his family. Although the eldest son Mattia never forgave him for his absence, especially during his childhood, his little sister Teresa is very fond of her father.
But Leonidas has now put aside his past as a war veteran and tried to smooth out those sides of his character that have given him the reputation of a hard and gloomy man; yet a tragic event brings out the hardness of the past in him. Little Teresa is kidnapped and the father has no choice but to bring out the sleeping beast in him and return to get involved in order to save his child.
