Spenser Confidential, directed by Peter Berg, is the story of a former Boston cop named Spenser (Mark Wahlberg) who recently got out of prison. The man is determined to leave town after spending the last few years in jail, but Herny (Alan Arkin), his former boxing coach and mentor to him, asks him to stay and help a promising amateur. The young man the ex-cop has to take care of is Hawk (Winston Duke), an arrogant MMA fighter who believes he's tougher and more valid than Spenser himself.
When two of Spenser's former colleagues are killed, the man is determined to investigate the two suspicious deaths and track down the culprits. In his aid he will call both his new conscription Hawk and his ex-girlfriend Cissy (Iliza Shlesinger). The strange murder case will lead him on the trail of an intricate conspiracy until the descent into the underworld of Boston crime, in which he discovers how the drug dealing is linked to a group of corrupt cops.
