Breaking News in Yuba County, a film directed by Tate Taylor, tells the story of Sue Buttons (Allison Janney), a woman living in the suburbs who is little appreciated by her community. One day her husband Karl (Matthew Modine) mysteriously disappears and, while Sue searches for her husband throughout Yuba County, she becomes a true local celebrity.
Soon, however, things get complicated and, despite her, after years in her shadow, trying to prolong her moment of fame, she will have to deal with some people, who will become entangled in doing it. The woman, in fact, will find herself on her heels the aspiring mobster Mina (Awkwafina), the local journalist Nancy (Mila Kunis) on the hunt for stories, the detective Cam Harris (Regina Hall) and the freeloader brother-in-law Petey (Jimmi Simpson). All interested in uncovering the secret behind the man's disappearance, but ... what is the truth?
