The Reckoning, directed by Neil Marshall, is set in 1665, during the Great Death of Plague, and tells the story of Grace Haverstock (Charlotte Kirk), a young widow who recently lost her husband Joseph (Joe Anderson) and lives alone. The woman, after having refused the advances of the owner of the estate, is unjustly accused by him of witchcraft and imprisoned, while her home is set on fire. Grace is handed over to Judge Moorcroft (Sean Pertwee), known to be England's most merciless and cruel inquisitor.
The widow is tortured physically and psychologically, but she never gives in and she continues to firmly assert that she is innocent. It is during these troubled martyrs and her imprisonment that she finds herself facing her own personal demons, not realizing that something or, rather, someone is slowly taking possession of her mind: the Devil.
