Made in Italy, the film directed by James D'Arcy, follows the story of Robert (Liam Neeson), a London-based bohemian artist who inherited a house that belonged to his late wife. Robert intends to sell the villa as soon as possible and for this reason he travels to Tuscany with his son Jack (Micheál Richardson), with whom he has no good relationship.
Once on site, the two realize that the villa is in ruins and needs to be renovated. Robert and Jack try to fix the house better, but immediately start to fight. The boy is in fact going through a difficult period and is desperate for pleasant memories of his mother. In addition, the lack of experience with renovations leads Robert to seek help from some locals. This is how he meets Kate (Lindsay Duncan), an elderly and extravagant real estate agent. While Jack falls in love with a young Italian cook, Natalia (Valeria Bilello), owner of a restaurant.
